The next offering of Silicone Prosthetic Institute's six-day prosthetic course will be held
June 1 through 6, 2009, at Custom Prosthetic Designs, Inc., in Ashburn, Virginia. The classroom setting is the actual working prosthetic laboratory
of Robert R. Barron where patients receive the highest acclaimed prostheses available today. The four-to-one student-to-instructor ratio immerses you into a learning environment that combines art and science, and that illustrates the opportunity to make
significant changes to a person's life. Learn from and work beside:
-
Robert Barron, former CIA Master of Disguise as seen on Oprah, Montel, Discovery Health and many other national televised programs.
-
Robert Erb, Ph.D., renowned scientific consultant and past president of a professional prosthetic association, and
-
Robert Pivetta a materials expert and product developer/designer in the prosthetic and prosthetic related industries.
The SPI course is presented in English. SPI will make every effort to
arrange for a personal interpreter per your request. The interpreters
fees will be the student's responsibility. All language assistance
request must be submitted no later than one month prior to the course start

The purpose of the course is
to provide the student with practical knowledge in areas important to
making realistic silicone prostheses. Those who can be benefited by
this intensive course include:
- Those who are not yet in the
field of anaplastology, but who want to learn what is involved in the
fabrication of silicone prostheses, and
- Those already in the field
who wish to learn the techniques of the instructors and to build new skills.
We must emphasize that taking this course will not turn someone into a clinical anaplastologist. This can be accomplished by an extended period of working with those in the field, including formal educational programs and apprenticeships.
